Typical solutions in CWDM

Typical and most popular CWDM solutions are presented below. Other not mentioned here configurations are also possible. SFP modules support interfaces GE, STM-1/4/16, OTU1. XFP modules support interfaces 10GE, STM-64, OTU2, FibreChannel1/2/4/8/10GFC (option). Thanks to DP-QPSK modulation format and soft algorithm for forward error correction with 15% redundancy we have reached an extremely low required optical to signal noise ratio (OSNR required) for 100G.

Point-to- Point

In case of P2P solution there are two remote nodes, the CWDM platforms on these nodes being connected between each other by either one or two fiber link. The total number of channels with wavelength 1, 2… N can be 4 or 8. “A” denotes the wavelength of the optical supervisory channel for remote node management.

Point-to- Multipoint

In case of P2MP the operator equipment (switches and routers) are connected to CWDM platform in central office. From other side there are several remote nodes with operator equipment (switches and routers) as well as another CWDM platform can be optionally located at remote node. Corresponding wavelengths are added or dropped at the intermediate nodes by OADMs. The CWDM TP-4/4 platform gives additional possibility to organize two links to remote nodes.

Path protection

Path protection with redundancy at client equipment level – CWDM TP-4/4 (a). It takes doubling both client and line interfaces. Path Protection at line level – CWDM 10TP-6/2 (b). It takes doubling only line interfaces.
