On March 1-2, 2018, representatives of all BRICS countries discussed formats and areas of cooperation in the field of Photonics. The conference was held at the SKOLKOVO Institute of science and technology (Skoltech). The partnership between the countries is aimed at the development of several directions: knowledge-intensive technologies in the field of high-speed optical communication systems, the use of photonics in biomedicine and integrated optics, photonics for agriculture and food industry. An important task of the conference was providing opportunity to discuss cooperation with companies from different regions, as well as the exchange of experience of university programs and joint participation in large international projects.
Representatives of the scientific department of T8 took part in the conference at the invitation of Professor Arkady Shipulin (SKOLKOVO Institute of science and technology). During the conference T8 company was invited to visit the largest Indian technological institutes – Indian Institute of Science and Indian Institute of Technology Madras – in order to exchange experience and establish cooperation in the development of optical communication systems.
BRICS – short for Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa – group of these five countries. The organization was founded in June 2006 during the St. Petersburg economic forum.
