The summary
The given article shows the results of the numerical simulation and the experimental survey of influences of the chromatic dispersion, optical radiation power and nonlinear distortion in a fiber-optic communication line on the information transmission quality in the differential phase shift keying format without returning to zero (NRZ DPSK) with a speed of 40 Gbit/s in one spectral channel.

The results of direct numeric calculations and evaluations, which are based on quality parameter (Q-factor), are in a quality correspondence with experimental data. It has been experimentally shown, that the error rate depends on the accumulated dispersion of the form of “shelf” for an accumulated dispersion value from —50 to 50 ps/nm; the similar dependence has been received in the numeric calculation based on the “current” Q-factor.

An optimal calculated value for power inserted in every section (10 sections total) of a line with the total length of 1,000 km is 2 — 4 dbm, which corresponds with the experimental value of 3 dBm.
